Arts Club Organised Inter School Competition
In connection with Independence Day Celebration, Sivakasi Arts Club organised Inter School Competition on 11th and 12th August 2013, at Sivakasi Arts Club. 11 Schools participated in the competition. Competitions such as elocution, fance dress, dance, singing were conducted. Prize distribution ceremony was held on 12th August 2013, Monday. Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were honoured with memontos. Chief Guest distributed participation certificates and gave away prizes to the winners.

Drizzle for few minutes
Today, at evening, black clouds gathered and drizzled for few minutes accompanied by strong wind, in Sivakasi Town. Strong winds followed by few drizzles makes the road wet. The change in Sivakasi weather turned the climate pleasant, once again. And there is chance for drizzle / rain for next three days.

Opening Ceremony of the Statue of Swami Vivekananda
As a part of Swami Vivekananda Ratha Yatra in Sivakasi, opening ceremony of the statue of Swami Vivekananda and book publishing ceremony was held at S.S.R.Hospital, Sivakasi, on 11th August 2013, Sunday. The function started with bhajan. Special prayers were offered to Swami Vivekananda. In the presence of Dr.V.K.Kathiravan, Chairman, Sivakasi Municipality, Dr.S.Ramesh, S.S.R. Hospital, Srimath Swami Abiramanandhaji Maharaj, Secretary, Coimbatore Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Srimath Swami Kamalathmanandhji Maharaj opened the statue of Swami Vivekananda. The newly opened statue of Swami Vivekananda was garlanded by dignitaries. Devotees raised slogans of Swami Vivekananda. Hundreds of devotees participated in the function. The publication ceremony of ILLAYA THALAIMURAIYINARUKKU book was held. Srimath Swami Dharmanandhaji Maharaj, Srimath Swami Veerapathiranandhaji Maharaj and Srimath Swami Hariveeradhandhaji Maharaj were present on the occasion.

Today, Sivakasians began the day on a pleasant note, with a cool breeze early morning. The gradual dip in the temperature began after cloud cover lifted from over Sivakasi town at evening. It was drizzling for long hours since evening 04:30 p.m.. Drizzle for several hours makes the road wet and brings the temperature down and also drenched Sivakasi. Sivakasi set to get some more drizzle in the coming days. For next one week the sky will be cloudy and there is chance for drizzle and rain in Sivakasi. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 33 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius.
